This day of penance and thanksgiving of Hindu devotees is held in honours of Lord Muruga. The festival is best experienced in Kuala Lumpur where the deity’s jeweled chariot is led in a mass procession through the streets of the city, culminating at Batu Caves in Selangor. An unforgettable sight is the thousand of devotees in a trance-like state carrying body-piercing kavadis or ornate frames. Chinese New Year Celebration and Open House - Throughout Malaysia

Chinese New Year marks the first day if the lunar calendar and is celebrated over a 15-day period. Mandarin oranges and plum blossom stalks are used as decoration in Chinese homes and shopping complexes for prosperity and good luck. Animated lion and dragon dance performances accompanuied by energetic drums, gongs and cymbals add to the festive air. On the eve of Chinese New Year, family membes hold reunion dinners followed by 'open houses' for relatives and friends.

Taman Negara Eco-Challenge - Taman Negara, Pahang

Taman Negara is Malaysia’s premier park and the largest in the country. It covers an area of approximately 4,343 square kilometers of primary Tropical Rain Forests estimated at more than 130 million years old. The park was established for the sole purpose of protecting and preserving the flora and fauna indigenous to the area. Located within the park is Peninsular Malaysia’s highest peak, the Gunung Tahan, standing tall at 2,187 meters above sea level.

Tadau Keaamatan (Harvest Festival) - Sabah
Tadau Kaamatan or Harvest Festival celebrations is a public holiday unique to Sabahand One of the main and permanent fixture of the annual Sabah Fest. The most easily-recognizable features of this celebration is the general merry-making, cultural performances, traditional sports, and of course, the Unduk Ngadau ( Harvest Festival Queen ) pageant.
The Kadazandusun communities will gather for a thanksgiving celebration for a bountiful harvest. The festival is observed at district level before concluding at the State Level in Penampang. It is also the time the Harvest Queen or Unduk Ngadau is selected.
This is the best time to witness and experience the Kadazandusun culture.

2007 was officially declared Visit Malaysia Year with pomp and splendour amid a spectacular fireworks display and  a colourful concert showcasing the diversity of the nation. The declaration was made by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the historical Dataran Merdeka before some 100,000 Malaysians from all walks of life just before the stroke of midnight.
